Tuneback: Principles of Profit
May 1, 2007 | Author: Joel Falconer | Filed under:
This week’s Tuneback was inspired by Shel Horowitz and the concept of Principled Profit. We live in the ‘cheating culture’–a culture where morals take the back seat to the great modern social values of greed, selfishness and materialism: do what feels right. And we’re cheated first and foremost, before ourselves and our peers, by the thousands of corporations around the world who do unethical business. Shel is an author and marketer who opposes unethical marketing and offers solutions that ‘put people first’. We’ve never met, but he is an inspiration to all of us who want to end the cheating culture.
This was the first Tuneback written with my good friend and colleague NDK Creative Artist, who I’ve been writing songs for our album with for a couple of years now. Despite being a six minute song, we still made the usual self-imposed one hour deadline on this tune, although that hour was broken into two half-hour sessions thanks to the constraints of working across time zones.

Wow! Nobody’s ever written a song about my work before. I’m amazed and humbled.
Thanks so much for helping to spread the message about what I’m doing, and give a big hello to NDK.
BTW, one other piece of the Principle Profit work is the Business Ethics Pledge, with signers in 30 countries so far: http://www.business-ethics-pledge.org
Would you be so kind as to drop me a note with the lyrics? I’d also like your permission to link to the post/download and to post the lyrics on my site (with link back to you and full attribution, of course).

[...] The song is kind of a synth/metal thing, not the sort of thing I usually listen to. But I really like the lyrics: Principles of Profit [...]
